Celebrating Carol Lavery for Her Dedication and Service to McMaster University
The McMaster Immunology Research Centre (MIRC) would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Carol Lavery, for her work and dedication as a MIRC Senior Research Assistant and Laboratory Manager as part of her 48 years of work at McMaster University. After finishing her BSc at McMaster, Carol was hired as a research assistant in 1974 under Dr. Wayne Tompkins as part of the new Cancer Research group. She later worked as a research assistant for Dr. William Rawls before becoming the lab manager of the Cancer Research Group and supervisor of the Glass Washing and Tissue Culture Media Facilities. After 25 years in this position, the Cancer Research Group and the Immunology Research Program joined to create MIRC. Carol has contributed significantly to MIRC’s research excellence through her effective communication, resourcefulness, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Carol’s commitment to supporting research is evident through her McMaster President’s Award for Outstanding Service awarded in 2004. The research centre, including the director, principal investigators, trainees, research assistants, and technicians, came together to celebrate Carol’s retirement this year. We wish her the best and happiness with her friends and loved ones. Congratulations Carol, we will miss you!
