MIRC Doctoral trainees awarded CIHR’s Canada Graduate Scholarship
Results announced for The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral (CGS D) program.
Every April the results are announced for The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral (CGS D) program. This is a federal program of scholarships awarded through national competitions by the granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
Four of MIRC’s PhD candidates will receive $35 000 per year for the next three years to fund their research. The lab of Ali Ashkar had an outstanding representation with three of his doctoral candidates: Liz Balint, Ana Portillo, and Emily Feng, all receiving the award. Safaa Naiel from the lab of Kjetil Ask also won the award.
